Maria was born on July 19th, 1626 in Diest and her baptism took place in Sint Sulpitius.1   Maria's father was Joannis Gaethofs and her mother was Catharina Boogaerts. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Franciscus, Joannis, Antonius, Cornelia and Catharina.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
