Egide was born on June 29th, 1662 in Beringen.¹

Egide's father was Thomas Elens and his mother was Agnès (Anna) Gaethofs.  His paternal grandparents were Aegidius (Gilles ) Elens and Maria van Moll. He had a brother and two sisters, named Paulus, Joanna Margarita and Maria Adriana.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 33 in 1695.

  Heer van Schaevaertshof voor een derde, hij bezat reeds het domein "Haenegreef" bevattende een tiental vijvers teh zuiden van Beringen,afhangend van het feodale hof van de streek, domein in zijn bezit door afkomst.
