Thomas Egidius was born on December 19th, 1697 in Beringen.1   Thomas Egidius' father was Petrus Gaethofs and his mother was Maria Adriana Elens.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Elens and Agnès (Anna) Gaethofs. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Antonius, Paulus Leo, Franciscus, Anne Elisabeth and Agnes Catharina.  Antonius and Thomas Egidius were twins.  He died at the age of 43 on March 23rd, 1741 in Beringen.2
