Eugenie was born on November 15th, 1884 in Lummen. Eugenie's father was Felix Caels and her mother was Maria Paulina Windmolders. Her paternal grandparents were Joannes Franciscus Caels and Carolina Raepers; her maternal grandparents were Henri Windmolders and Colette Swinnen. She had seven sisters named Maria Francisca, Maria, Maria Josepha, Maria Carolina, Maria Phelomena, Melanie and Mathilde. She was the third youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 63 on April 21st, 1948 in Hasselt.-
