Daniel's father was Ralph R. Jackson and his mother was Leah Neal or Williams.  His paternal grandparents were William Jackson and Rebecca.  He was the seventh of nine children.  He had seven brothers and a sister, named Ralph, William, Francis, Joseph, Thomas, John, James and Elizabeth.  He died in 1781.
