Mary was born in 1867.  Mary's father was George C. Harp and her mother was Charlotte Asbill.  Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Asbell and Mary Paulina or Polly Harp.  She was the third of eight children.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named William Scott, Levi, George, Elizabeth, Dora, Eva and Molly.
