James L. was born on July 16th, 1835.  James L.'s father was John Lowery Goodman and his mother was Amelia Hulen.  His maternal grandparents were Ambrose Hulen and Jane Bicknell.  He was the sixth of seven children.  He had two brothers and four sisters, named Mcelyea or Mack, William Harrison, Rhoda, Cyntha or Cynthia Ann, Lucy Ann and Martha Jane.  He died at the age of 84 on January 7th, 1920.
