Nancy Jane was born on December 22nd, 1855.  Nancy Jane's father was Alfred Bicknell and her mother was Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick.  Her paternal grandparents were Mumford Bicknell and Nancy Ashby.  She was the second of eleven children.  She had ten brothers named Joseph Riley, William Franklin, George W., Obede Morton, Alfred Marion, Ulissis Grant, John Thompson, David Emery, Leroy Johnson and Charles Alfred.
