  • Brutus Clay Richardson died in Alliance Nebraska. As
    reported in the Louisville, Kentucky, The
    Courier-Journal-Monday, August 20, 1900.
    SHOT BY A MUSICIAN
    B.C. Richardson, Formerly of Wildie,Ky. Fatally
    Wounded In Nebraska.
    Alliance, Neb, Aug. 19,-(Special)-B.C. Richardson, a
    well-to-do resident, was shot and fatally wounded by a
    man named Cline this morning. The shooting occured at
    a restaurant operated by H. Dismer, in a building
    owned by Richardson. Three shots were fired, two of
    which took effect upon Richardson, one entering the
    stomach and one passing through the top of his
    shoulder and penetrating the neck. The third shot
    struck Mr. Dismer in the arm.
    Cline is a strolling musician and had been playing in
    company with a woman, in Richardson's saloon several
    hours prior to the shooting. The woman took offense at
    some remark made in the saloon, and Cline started a
    fight and was knocked down by Richardson, who
    immediately turned both out of the saloon, and all
    trouble was supposed to be over.
    Cline however, in some way procured a revolver and
    hunted for Richardson until he found him, when the
    shooting occurred.
    Mr. Richardson came here from Wildie,KY., this spring
    and erected a fine brick building and engaged in the
    saloon business. He has a wife and six-children at
    Wildie, who have been notified of his injury.
    Richardson will not live through the night. Cline is
    in jail.

    KENTUCKIAN SHOT.
    ALLIANCE, Neb., Aug. 19.-(Associated Press.)-R.C.
    Richardson, a wealthy property owner here, was shot by
    a man named Cline, with probably fatal results.
    Richardson leaves a wife and six children in Kentucky,
    when he came here recently.

    Shot in Nebraska
    Bruce Richardson, formerly of this county, was shot at
    Alliance, Neb. Sunday morning and died that night. His
    remains will be buried at Berea this county, today.
