William was born in 1714 in Combeflorey, Somerset, England.  William's father was William Bicknell and his mother was Ann Challis.  His paternal grandparents were William Bicknell and Sarah; his maternal grandparents were John Challis and Alice. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Richard, George, Susan and Ann.  He died at the age of 67 on May 7th, 1781 in Amherst, Amherst, VA, USA.  His burial was on May 10th, 1781 in Amherst, Amherst, VA, USA.
