    Medical Information: It is handed down in the family that Ephraim was kicked in the abdomen by his coltish horse.  On returning home he said he would never leave his house again "and so it was proved"232

• General Notes
  • The descendants of Rev. Ephraim down through years have established the Wheaton name for at least two cities, one in Illinois which you have on your web site, and the other Wheaton, Maryland named after General Frank Wheaton.  Two colleges have been named after Wheaton's.  Wheaton college in Wheaton, Illinois was named for Warren and Jessie Wheaton.  Wheaton college in Norton Massachusetts. is named for the daughter of Hon. Laban Wheaton.
    
    Ephraim was a man who exerted a great and profound influence for good in the community, and under his care the church was highly prospered, both spriritually and temporally.  According to records still extant, within five years he baptized fifty into membership of the church.  He died at the age of seventy-fice years, in the fulness of honors and well-merited affection, and he left four sons and five daughers, all born of his first marriage.

    Samuel Luther was the second minister of The First Baptist Church of Swansea and Ephraim Wheaton was the third minister.  The Rev. J.J. Thatcher, pastor in 1863. said, "Mr. Wheaton appears to have been a man who exerted a great and good influence on the church, and on others, also, and the church was highly prosperous.  According to the records we have, in about five years after becoming sole pastor, he baptized fifty into membership of the church.  Of this revival, Rev. Wheaton gave an account in a letter to Mr. Thomas Hollis of London, an eminent Baptist and the generous founder of the Hollis Professorship in Harvard University, at Cambridge, Mass.  Mr. Hollis responded with a glowing letter to Rev. Wheaton from London on March 13, 1722 ( which is to long to include here.)
    
    
    
    Rev. Wheaton ministered in Swansea but his place of residence was Rehoboth where he died April 26, 1734 aged 75 years.  He lies buried near by a stone marking his grave.
