Hendrikus was born on December 30th, 1884 in Angerlo (Zevenaar). Hendrikus' father was Theodorus Baars and his mother was Grada Nijland. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Bernardus, Johannes Frederikus, Theodorus, Gradus, Gerhardus, Johanna, Maria Theodora, Maria Johanna, Grada Maria, Elisabeth, Antonetta and Antonetta.  He was the second oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 34 on August 29th, 1919 in Doesburg.
