Jan was born about 1790.  Jan's father was Dirk  / Derk Jan ter Maat and his mother was Dersken Beernink. He had two sisters named Grada and Aaltjen.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died on September 4th, 1852 in Heelweg (Oude IJsselstreek).
