Aeltien was born in 1648.  Aeltien's father was Arend / Arent ter Beest and her mother was Hendriksken Buevink (Berink).  Her paternal grandparents were Derk ter Beest and Vrouw / Moeder. She had four brothers and a sister, named Hendrick, Derck (Seinhorst), Berend, Heine and Jenneken.  She was the oldest of the six children.
