Hendrin was born on February 28th, 1762. Hendrin's father was Hendrik Scholten and her mother was Grietjen / Gerritje Plettenborgs (Plettenburg).  Her paternal grandfather was Evert Scholten; her maternal grandfather was Derck Plettenborg. She had a brother and two sisters, named Evert, Jenneken and Maria.  She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Gerrit Jan and Sophia.
