Steven  was born in 1822.  Steven 's father was Albert Onstenk and his mother was Henders Meijerink.  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Jan Onstenk and Berendjen Rieffel; his maternal grandparents were Lucas Meijerink and Stijntjen Loman. He had a brother and three sisters, named Gerrit Jan, Garritjen, Leida and Berendina. He had two half-brothers named Derk Albert and Engelbart.  He died at the age of 68 in 1890.
