Gerrit was born in 1831 in Doetinchem Ambt, Netherlands.  Gerrit's father was Everd Jan / Evert / Everhardus Johannes Nusselder and his mother was Maria Beunk / Buijjink / Buunk.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrik / Hendricus Nusselder and Hermina Nieuwenhave / Nijenhove / Nijenhave; his maternal grandparents were Frerik / Frederik / Fredrik Beunk (Buenk / Buijink / Buijjink) and Willemina Everink. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Hendrik Willem, Lambertus / Lammert, Fredrik, Frederika, Harmina, Gerritjen, Wesselina / Wessela and Johanna.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Everd Jan, Hermanus, Geziena Hendrika and Gezina.  He died at the age of 62 on July 14th, 1893 in IJzevoorde (Doetinchem Ambt), Netherlands.
