Jan was born on January 20th, 1776 in Zelhem, Netherlands.1  Jan's father was Gart / Garrit Jan Hissink and his mother was Hendrika Priesterink.  His paternal grandfather was Jan Hissink; his maternal grandfather was Jan Priesterink. He had two brothers named Garrit Jan and Gerrit Jan.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Garritjen / Gartjen.  He died at the age of 63 on September 12th, 1839 in Zelhem, Netherlands.
