Geesken was born on January 21st, 1770.  Geesken's father was Garrit Garvelink and her mother was Harmiena Klaapsink.  Her maternal grandparents were Lambert Claapsink and Geesken. She had a brother and three sisters, named Hendrik, Janna, Everdina and Jenneken.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
