Gerrit was born about 1766.  Gerrit's father was Berent Brussen (Brus) and his mother was Elske / Elsken Ooijmans (Ooyman).  His paternal grandparents were Harmen Brussen (Brus) and Hendersken Biermans; his maternal grandparents were Jan Ooyman / Ooiman and Geertje / Juutje Janssen. He had two sisters named Grietjen and Willemina / Harmina.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died on January 9th, 1829 in Wisch (Oude IJsselstreek).
