Jenneke was born in 1828 in Varsseveld, Netherlands.  Jenneke's father was Berend Bosboom and her mother was Harmina Essink.  Her paternal grandparents were Garrit Jan Bosboom and Anneke / Anneken Bruggemans (Bruggink / Vruggink); her maternal grandparents were Willem Essink and Berendje / Berendjen ter Maat. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Willem, Gerrit Jan, Derk, Gerrit, Johanna Berendina, Berendina, Grada, Mientjen and Everdina.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 60 on December 14th, 1888 in Langerak (Doetinchem-Ambt), Netherlands.1
