Gerrit was born in July 1813.  Gerrit's father was Jacob van Baar and his mother was Aagje van het ('t) Hof. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Jacob, Gerrit, Pieter, Maartje, Anna, Jannetje, Antje, Jannetje, Lisbeth and Lijsbeth.  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.  He died at 4 months old on November 4th, 1813.
