Jacob was born on July 6th, 1745 in Haarlem.1  Jacob's father was Jan de Breuk (du Bruijk) and his mother was Marijtje / Marytje de Jongh (Jong). He had two brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Martinus, Aagje and Aagje.  He was the youngest of the five children.
