Pieter was born on February 2nd, 1721.  Pieter's father was Cornelis Pietersz Vries -> Vriesman and his mother was Maartje Poulis Kool.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Hendriksz / Hendricksz Vries / Vriesman and Guurtje Willems Meeuwer; his maternal grandparents were Poulis Kool and Vrouw / Moeder. He had two brothers and a sister, named Paulis / Poulus, Sijbrant and Neeltje.  He was the oldest of the four children.
