Trijntje was born in 1810 in Berkhout.  Trijntje's father was Klaas Verwer and her mother was Engeltje Molenaar.  Her paternal grandparents were Cornelis Klaasz Verwer and Grietje Stroomers / Stroomer; her maternal grandparents were Sijmon / Sijmen Molenaar and Sijtje Barendts / Barends. She had a brother and three sisters, named Simon / Sijmon, Grietje, Sijtje and Neeltje.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
