Jacob was born on April 25th, 1756 in Oostzaandam.  Jacob's father was Jacob Eliasz Pijper and his mother was Duijfje Jacobs Heijn.  His paternal grandparents were Elias Jacobsz Pijper and Guurtje Sijmons / Zijmons Gravenaar / Gravenaars; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Claasz Heijn and Trijntje Claas. He had a brother and a sister, named Guurtje and Trijntje.  He was the oldest of the three children.
