Klaas was born on January 25th, 1756. Klaas' father was Jan Klaasz Molenaar / Moolernaar and his mother was Jannetje / Jantje Jacobs Huys / Huijs / Huis.  His paternal grandparents were Claas Jansz Molenaar and Aagt / Aaght Pieters; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Pietersz Rood and Trijntje Jan Knip. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jacob, Cornelis, Corneils, Pieter, Trijntje, Aagtje and Trijntje.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
