Douwe was born on September 3rd, 1839. Douwe's father was Douwe Kornelis Molenaar. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Teunis, Cornelis, Jacob, Doetje, Cornelisje, Sjoukjen and Neeke .  He was the second youngest of the eight children.  Douwe is no longer alive.
