Mecke was born in 1580 in Wijdenes.  Mecke's father was Pieter Haes and his mother was Aeff Cornelis.  His paternal grandparents were Wouter Haes and Vrouw / Moeder; his maternal grandparents were Cornelis and Vrouw / Moeder. He had two brothers named Claes and Pieter.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 40 in 1620 in Wijdenes.
