Jan was born on July 28th, 1723 in Amsterdam and his baptism took place in Amsterdam, Noorderkerk.1  Jan's father was Pieter Gerritse / Gerres Dorsman (Dorstman) and his mother was Hilletje Jans van der Meer (Geb. in Delft).  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Dorsman and Vrouw / Moeder; his maternal grandparents were Jan Dirckse van der Meer and Angeniet Marij Kamerling. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Gerret / Gerrit, Jan, Jan, Jan, Angenies, Lijsbet / Lijsje and Reijntje.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died before 1732.
