Machiel was born on June 26th, 1881 in Blokker.1  Machiel's father was Pieter Bosstad and his mother was Antje de Wit.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Bosstad and Elisabeth / Lijsbeth Molenaar; his maternal grandparents were Machiel / Michiel de Wit and Cornelia (Cornelisje) Roos. He had a sister named Elisabeth.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 78 on August 31st, 1959 in Alkmaar.2
