Abraham was born in February 1747 in Leiden and his baptism took place there on February 1st, 1747. Abraham's father was Jacobus Boreijn / Boerijn and his mother was Anna Couvee / Koevee.  His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Bourreau / Boreijn and  Elsje Brugman / Brugge; his maternal grandparents were Jacob / Isaak Couvee and Rachel Hendriks / Henrics. He had a brother and a sister, named Jacobus and Rachel.  He was the youngest of the three children.
