Dirk was born in 1837.  Dirk's father was Dirk Sijmonsz Bart (Slachter, slager, koopman) and his mother was Geertje (Grietje) Spoor.  His paternal grandparents were Sijmon Joosten Bart (Visser) and Trijntje Claas Klaas / Klaasd Groot; his maternal grandparents were Klaas Cornelisz Spoor and Lucretia Jansz de Groot. He had five brothers and a sister, named Klaas, Cornelis, Pieter, Sijmen, Krelis and Trijntje. He had a half-brother named Jacob.  He died at the age of 86 on August 24th, 1923 in Schellinkhout.1
