Alan was born on March 15th, 1944 in Hampton, Virginia.  Alan's father is Edward Quartermaine and his mother was Lila Quartermaine.  His paternal grandparents were George Quartermaine and Ida Zemlcok Quartermaine. He had a sister named Tracy.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named Bradley.  He died at the age of 62 on February 26th, 2007.
