George Southerton

George was born in 1839 in Petworth, Sussex, , England. George's father was James Southerton and his mother was Mary Rapley. His paternal grandparents were William Southerton and Lucy Elliott; his maternal grandparents were Charles Rapley and Anne Long. He had two brothers and five sisters, named James, William Henry, Mary Ann, Harriett, Ellen, Sarah Ann and Christiana. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
