Patrick was born in 1625 in Urral, Kirkcudbrightshire, , Scotland.  Patrick's father was John Milroy and his mother was Ada. He had two brothers named Archibald and Gilbert.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 43 in 1668.
