Michele was born on January 20th, 1866 in Cermignano.  Michele's father is Vincenzo Violante and his mother was Domenica Alfonsi/Alonsi/D'Alonso/D'Alonzo/Alonzi.  His paternal grandparents are Giovanni Violante and Antonina Castellani; his maternal grandfather is Francesco Alfonsi/Alonsi/D'Alonso/D'Alonzo and his maternal grandmother was Felicia Muscinese. He had two brothers named Candido and Tito.  He is the youngest of the three children.
