Colomba was born in 1898 in Cermignano. Colomba's father was Tito Violante and her mother was Maria del Cane. Her paternal grandfather is Vincenzo Violante and her paternal grandmother was Domenica Alfonsi/Alonsi/D'Alonso/D'Alonzo/Alonzi; her maternal grandparents are Donato del Cane and Clementina de Matteis/di Matteo. She had five brothers and a sister, named Antonio, Giuseppe, Donato, Giovanni, Domenico and Clementina.
