Rufus was born on August 5th, 1876 in Translyvania County, NC.  Rufus' father was Lodwick Albert Johnson and his mother was Elmina F. Glazener (Johnson). He had a brother named George.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, Bronchopneumonia, at the age of 84 on April 18th, 1961 in Hendersonville, NC.  He was buried at the Glazener Cemetery.
