Bertie was born on March 8th, 1901 in North Carolina. Bertie's father was Rev Adinoran Judson Corn and her mother was Emily Elizabeth Drake (Corn). Her paternal grandfather is Benjamin (Dock) Franklin Corn and her paternal grandmother was Ellen Middleton (Corn); her maternal grandfather was Hezekiah D. Drake and her maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Foulds (Drake). She had a brother and two sisters, named Everette, Leota and Lela. She was the second oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 67 on May 13th, 1968 in Brevard, NC. She was buried at the Catheys Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
