Alma was born in 1914 in Richmond, Melbourne, VIC.1 Alma's father was Albert Danes WITNEY and her mother was Silvetta Adelaide Elsie SMITH. Her paternal grandparents were Arthur Beniah WITNEY and Isabella Ann BARTON. She had a brother and a sister, named Rupert and Evelyn. She was the youngest of the three known children.-
