Robert was born on August 8th, 1885 in Hd of Colton, SA.1   Robert's father was George BOWSHIRE and his mother was Sarah Ann STANDLEY.  His paternal grandparents were John BOWSHIRE and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Robert STANDLEY and Sarah Ann BROWN. He had a brother and six sisters, named Bennal, Isabella, Sarah, Eva, Ethel, Vivanner and Dorothy.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
