John SHARDLOW 
John was born on January 29th, 1862 in Derby, Derbyshire, England.1 John's father was John SHARDLOW and his mother was Emma SHAW. His paternal grandparents were John SHARDLOW and Sarah DAYKIN. He had three brothers and four sisters, named George, Reuben James, William, Mary Ann, Emma, Selina and Sarah Selina. He was the second youngest of the eight children. John Shardlow was born in 9 Jan 1862 at 107 Whitecross Street Derby and was the son of John Shardlow and Emma Shaw. In the 1871 census for 12 Fowler Street Derby he is listed as the son of the head of the house aged 9. His father was aged 47 and a clock maker.
In the 1881census he was living at 14 Guys Terrace, Nottingham and was listed as the brother of the head of the house, George Shardlow, aged 30, an iron turner.
John married Sarah Jane Dutton on Mon 23 Feb 1885 at St Ann, Nottingham. His age was then 23, an iron turner. His father was said to be deceased. The marriage was witnessed by Robert Dutton Jnr and Annie Dutton. The couple had three children, Kate Harriet born Tues 13 Apr 1886, Mary Shardlow and Ethel Shardlow.
John died at the General Infirmary, Leeds aged just 28 years after a tragic accident, being drawn around a revolving shaft at his place of work.
