Ellen MAY 
Ellen was born about 1840 in Toronto,,Ontario,Canada.1 Ellen's father was James MAY and her mother was Betsy BRITEKIRK. Her paternal grandparents were Timothy Franklin MAY and Ellen BRIERLY. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Timothy, Michael, Ann, Oonie, Owney, Elizabeth, Hattie, Jane and Katherine (Kate). She died in 1919 in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa. She was buried in Woodbury County, Iowa.2 3 General Notes
Ellen cared for a sick husband.
Kate and Mr. Wilcox had 7 children. They moved from a farm near the vicinity of Dewitt and Clinton, IA, by team and wagon, to Sioux City, IA. They traded their land, sight unseen. She was ambitious and self-relient. After the death of Mr. Wilcox, she married Mr. Charity and hade two more children with him. /per Clare McHales notes
Ellen and John were married in a religious ceremony in 1861 in Clinton County, Iowa.4 They had three sons and four daughters, named Thomas, William, John A., Katie, Ava Eva, Elizabeth Lizzie and Mary.
