Graduated from Platts. High in 1927. Retired from the House and Garden Terminex
Co in KC Missouri. He served in the US navy, the Pacific theater. He was
heavily into coin collection and published the"Janda US Coin Checklist" for 12
years. He was appt. by Pres L.B. Johnson to serve on the US Assay commission in
1965. He started his first coin collection in 1918 when his grandfather, John
J. Svoboda Sr. gave him a 1843 penny. In 1951, he dumped 40,176 pennies into
the lap of a Kansas City banker in answer to the request for penny savers to
let loose of their loot.
