Cathy's father was Jerome Stratman and her mother is Florence Viola Ogilvie (Stratman).  Her paternal grandparents were Stratman and Catherine Carmody; her maternal grandparents were Clyde Francis Ogilvie and Ruth. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Donald, Clyde, Marianne, Joanne and Dyan.
