Patrick's father was Charles Warren Reed and his mother was Dora Mae Dolan (Reed).  His paternal grandparents were Phil C Reed and Fera Blessing Patterson (Reed); his maternal grandparents were James K Dolan and Edna I Roberts (Dolan). He has two brothers and two sisters, named James, Thomas, Beverly and Linda.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
