  • "The Pierces and Their Posterity" - Described as slight, dark, full of spirit and vitality was beautiful. - Appeared in Martin County about 1779. - After Lovick Sr. died abt 1821, she served as a member of the church where Lovick Jr. pastored in Milledgeville for 18 more years. p. 73 - Her name last appears on the church roll in 1839. Listed in the September 24, 1839 issue of teh Southern Recorder: "Died in Milledgeville on the 17th instant, Mrs. Lydia Pierce, in her 75th year. She died in the faith". Both Lovick and Lydia are probably buried at an unknown site in an unmarked grave in the cemetery at the Milledgeville Church. p. 74 - Bishop Pierce quote: "Lydia Pierce, my grandmother, was a rare woman, of small stature and delicate features, and in her youth, of great beauty. She had bright, black eyes, brilliant at nearly four-score, an open brow of unusual height and configuration, and in mind quick, sharp, humorous, ready in repartee, and capable of pungent expression. Her education was scanty, but she thought profoundly and expressed herself with great propriety. From her, I think, my father derived both his moral and mental qualities. The whole family was intellectual, quick to learn, comprehending facts and principles readily." p. 74
