Olavo's father was Jose Henrique Ferraz and his mother was Teonesta Amaral.  His paternal grandparents were Cel José Ferraz de Camargo and Francisca Pereira Arruda (de Oliveira Ferraz); his maternal grandparents were Antonio Franco de Arruda and Guilermina Franco de Morais. He had three brothers and a sister, named Jose, Plinio, Paulo and Dulce.  He died due to a medical problem.
