Sarah was born in November 1777 in Shermanbury, Sussex, , England.  Sarah's father is Robert Stoner and her mother is Mary Stenning. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, James, Phillip, Thomas and Mary.  She is the fourth oldest of the six children.
